Thank you for entering ACE Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Institute Christmas Tree 5K,

9 hours from now, Sunday, December 3, at 11:00 AM at the Columbia Pike end of Glencarlin Park, 4955 Columbia Pike, Arlington VA

WE ARE NOT AT THE 4TH STREET SOUTH ENTRANCE TO GLENCARLIN PARK -- we are on the new section of the park, at the bottom of the great hill on Columbia Pike, between Buchanan Street and Dinwiddie Street.

Parking is free at neaarby shopping plazas and on neighborhood streets,  Packet pick-up is at the picnic tables near the new commemorative markers.  Indoor plumbing is available at the laundry next to our start line and at our sponsor, Cafe Sazon, across Columbia Pike.

Please bring your own safety pins -- we'll have a few, but we didn't buy an extra box today as planned.  We're also going to disappoint you about the petting cat -- my wife won't let me bring Bob Cat, but you can view photos on his Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/bob.n.edith

Please wear your bib number visibly on the front of your shirt, not obscured in any way, and please leave the name tag intact at the bottom of the bib number.  We collect those tags after you finish to score the race.  Don't remove the name tag.  Don't remove the name tag.  Don't remove the name tag.

We present awards around 11:30 AM.  We present beautifully-printed certificates to all award winners, 1st 2nd 3rd M/F overall plus 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over.; also first 3 baby-strollers.

Race director Emily Carnes has a handful of merchandise awards also, including really cool backpacks from VRYPAC (www.vrypac.com)  See their exhibit on-site.

If you have an unused pair of eyeglasses at home, please bring them for Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center.  I am bringing my beloved horn-rims, like Clark Kent's, where the hinge just evaporated, plus an intact pair that I found recently,.

Take a look in your goodie bag -- don't miss the candy cane from TD Bank!  If you open an account at TD Bank this month, mention Christmas Tree 5K, they donate $50.00 to our beneficiary, Old Dominion Eye Foundation.

Also, if you buy a copy of my forthcoming book "The Man Who Stole The Sun," about a visually-impaired man who triumphantly overcomes his obstacles, among other things finishing Marine Corps Marathon, I donate $1.00 to Old Dominion Eye Foundation for each copy sold.  (I plan to publish it via Amazon Kindle this week, in time for Christmas,  Watch for it!)

We also expect exhibits from

Canine Companions for Independence®

and

Old Dominion Eye Foundation

Complete results go on-line later Sunday afternoon at www.safetyandhealthfoundation.org/20171203.html
