Our t-shirts are manufactured by SportScience >, whom we;ve used every year since we started. Their shirts donít get wet when you run in them. They come out of the washer feeling dry. Their fusion-printing process wastes no ink, unlike traditional (and ink-wasteful) silk-screening. Read about their products at http://www.sportsciencewear.com/the-science
We are grateful to our sponsors:
o Zelalem Injera - if youíve never tried injera, the traditional Ethiopian flatbread, youíll get to taste some of the best at our race, courtesy of our sponsor Zelalem Injera. To read their fascinating story, see http://zelaleminjera.com/index.php/zelalem_injera

BOSTON MARATHON 2014 NEWS
Many of you have asked me whether our marathon on September 14 is a qualifier for the next Boston Marathon on April 21, 2014. Good question. Boston Athletic Association has not yet announced the opening day for 2014 registration. Their web page http://www.baa.org/faq.aspx simply says, "For the 2014 Boston Marathon, registration will begin in September, 2013 and continue until the field size limit is reached."
I called BAA to ask for clarification. They answered that BAA currently awaits approval of all the permits it requires from the jurisdictions along the course, just like any other race. Those permits will determine their field size. Until they know their field size, they canít announce the details of their registration process.
My theory is that BAA asked its jurisdictions for a field size larger than in recent years, because many more runners want to compete in 2014. Iím not good at predicting the future, but note that the web page http://www.baa.org/races/boston-marathon/participant-information/athlete-registration.aspx says, "Qualifying performances must be met in a certified marathon on or after September 22, 2012 Ö" - so my guess would be that 2014 Boston registration will open Monday, September 23, 2013 - but thatís just my guess.
September 14 in Washington DC can be a hot day. By now, you should be accustomed to the summer's heat. I find that hot days are the best days to run hard. On hot days, I run my speed training, for instance, 10 repeats of 400 meters on my local high school track. I chose cooler / cloudy days for my longer distance runs.
Keep healthy and keep on training!
