Welcome to Last Track to Boston Marathon

Dear Participant:

  • Thank you for entering Last Track to Boston Marathon, to be held Saturday, September 1, starting at 3:00 PM, at Falls Church High School track, 7521 Jaguar Trail, Falls Church VA 22042.

    Directions:

  • From Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) from the west, Jaguar Trail is the first stoplight after the I-495 Capital Beltway underpass. Turn right and go straight into the school parking lot.
  • From Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) from the east, Jaguar Trail is the last stoplight before the I-495 Capital Beltway underpass. Turn left and go straight into the school parking lot.

    Entries:

  • We currently have 9 entries, and we expect two more, so our field is small. If you know any runners interested, please invite them!

    Schedule:

  • Potomac Valley Track Club hosts a youth meet at the same track ending about 2:00 PM.
  • PVTC also hosts a pentathlon ending with a 1500-meter race, ending about 2:30 PM, so the track may be in usage till then.
  • We open packet pick-up at 2:15-2:45 PM. Please wear your bib number visibly on the front of your shirt or shorts.
  • We start after the 1500-meter race ends or 3:00 PM.
  • As soon as possible after the pentathlon 1500-meter, we move four tents out onto the track so we can have some shade at least briefly.
  • We have one table for water, one for PowerBar Energy Blasts, one for athletic beverage, one for Campbell's V-8 V-Fusion Wildberry Smoothie.

    Weather:

  • Alas, the weather forecast is for a hot day on Saturday.
  • Our prayers for the residents of the Gulf Coast, battered today by Hurricane Isaac.
  • The weather forecast here does not indicate that rainy weather is headed our way.

    Lap Timing:

  • We are grateful to our lap timers. We expect a total of six lap timers throughout the afternoon and evening.

  • We pay lap counters $50 who time the full race for 3 or more runners;$25 for a half shift.
  • Lap counters record each runner's lap time for each lap and inform their runners how many laps completed and how many remaining.

    Awards & Results:

  • We offer cash bonuses: $50 each for the first male and first female; plus a $50 bonus for a world record (sub 2:48:34 for men, sub 3:53:21 for women).
  • We prepare and publish complete results as soon as possible at www.safetyandhealthfoundation.org/20120901.html so you can use them to qualify for future races.
