Falls Church High School, Fairfax VA
Saturday, September 1, 2012

  • On a 95-degree day culminating with distant thunder from Hurricane Isaac and then a brief downpour, 10 intrepid runners started, and seven finished.

  • Miguel Angel Sanchez-Ruano ran his first marathon and won by five minutes, and Deborah Margraff survived a fall over the edge of the track to win the women's race.

  • Race staff included field director James Scarborough, track director Jay Jacob Wind, Bersabe Belay, Zackary Harris, Larry Feng and his son, Wayne Kretzer, Claude Yeager, and many others who came to watch and then helped out.

  • Nobody qualified for Boston Marathon, but a splendid time was had by all.
