Alene Reta ran 14:07, the second fastest-ever off-track 5K in Washington DC history, to win $3000 at this race, celebrating All Ethiopian Sports Association (AESA) ONE's soccer tournament opening night and the memory of two-time Olympic Marathon champion Abebe Bikila.

Alemtsehay Misganaw won the women's race in 16:38, with the next two women right behind her. The top four women and the top eight men were all Ethiopian-Americans.

The Byrd family flew to victory, sweeping the children's awards.

Assisting the race and cheering for the runners were two more two-time Olympians, sprinter Robin Bennett Campbell and boxer Seifu Makonnen. Other key assistants were Yonas Ayanaw, chief timer Bersabe Belay, chief judge Zackary Harris, Peter Kho, Ms. Lewis, Antoinette Ward, and Claude Yeager.

Georgetown Running Company donated $1,000 in gift certificates as awards. Participants enjoyed bananas and bagels donated by Whole Foods Market on P Street; Honest Tea, Mario's Pizza House vegan pizza, V8 V-Fusion wildberry 100% juice drink, bottled water from The Home Depot, all kept cool on a 100-degree day by ice donated by Harris-Teeter.

If you finished in the top 3 in your age group but did not receive your award, please let us know, and we will mail a Georgetown Running Company gift certificates to you. Also please let us know if you finished the race, but you're not in the results. We missed about 3 walkers who came in after the runners.
